Hurrah, it is here. Can't wait for the work day to end...

Where oh where can my M55 be???

Things are sounding a bit better in System B, I think. Last night I took the tube buffer off-line, replaced the Solar Wind CD-> amp connection with a Kimber Hero, and plugged it all into the Furman (which is intended for System A, as it has many more outlets). But System A is still unresponsive, I needed to test out the Furman so I could leave the sellerAudiogon feedback, and HOPEFULLY the M55 will show up today. I don't know what's up with UPS - I have a tracking number and it was supposed to arrive yesterday, but the website isn't showing me where it is. Maybe just FedEx does that.

In Happy System News, I need to replace the remote for the Rotel CD player, as a battery went bad and corroded one of the contacts. Customer service told me I needed to call B&W/Classe/Rotel tech support, and it would cost $45, plus $10 shipping. So I called yesterday, and the guy shipped it to me for a total cost of $0, saying he did it under warrenty. Sweet!

The pictured CD is Toumani Diabate's New Ancient Strings, a VERY nice-sounding work, recorded live in a marble hall in Bamako. Recommended!

Sigh...System A is dead. Not sure if it's the preamp or the amp, but it just stopped working over the weekend. It doesn't look like Ellie chewed the speaker cables. Fortuneately I have a back up Adcom pre and the old 5500 beastie that powered the Maggies.

The bedroom system is dead too. The CD transport bit the dust, and one channel is mysteriously out.

I may just be in the wrong hobby.

The Universality of It All...

Say hello to my l'il friennnnn... (stock photo, it's on its way from Cali as I type). This is an NAD Master Series M55 Universal Digital player. I've given up any hope of Rega Apollo I ordered from Music Direct showing up before summer. For a couple hundred bucks more, I got DVD-A, DVD-V, SACD, HDCD decoding. Seemed a no-brainer.
